I often make several preparatory sketches before venturing into my drawings. This is a valuable part of my drawing process. It helps me get the composition right, and I get to try out different ideas and elements. Sometimes, however, I get a spontaneous idea and just start drawing. It can feel like the artwork is making itself. This was the case with this recent piece, which I decided to name A Beautiful Truth.
Sometimes the veil feels thin, and we are able to grasp a deeper understanding, to catch a glimpse of something greater. Such moments can offer an overwhelming sense of awe. That feeling is what I have tried to capture here with many, many pencil strokes.
